Great experiences bring people together. before the first seating at Opus, we’re excited to CONNECT with the community that inspires us.
Opus is a project of Square Roots Collective, a non-profit organization that donates 100% of profits from its business ventures to the community! In collaboration with Philadelphia-based artist Phillip Adams and local organizations, SRC welcomes the community to a series of art-centered events, all free and open to the public.
On the corner of Birch and Broad Streets, we’re thrilled to bring a new outdoor mural that celebrates the Kennett Square community and the industrial roots of Birch Street. As we approach our opening, we hope you’ll join us to meet the artist behind this mural, help paint this piece of community art, and shape the spirit of a gathering place designed for connection.

Ribbon Cutting & Community Open House

You’re invited to step inside and explore Opus before we welcome our first guests! Following a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4pm, guests are welcome to tour the restaurant, admire the artwork, and help us mark the beginning of a new chapter on Birch Street.

Phillip Adams is a visual artist and muralist based out of Philadelphia, PA. Adams’ public art practice has spanned over 20 years, focusing on a range of artist driven projects to community based art processes. His murals are featured nationally and internationally including Philadelphia, Cincinnati, Memphis, Salt Lake City, Montréal, and Munich. He has worked with clients including Starbucks, Rag and Bone, Domain Companies, and U.S. Federal Government, and has collaborated with arts organizations including Philadelphia Mural Arts Program, ArtWorks (Cincinnati), and MU (Montréal).

We can’t wait to bring a new piece of public art to the community, inspired by hearing our neighbors’ stories and researching local history. Phillip’s murals often contain realistic imagery that combines industrial and natural elements, reflecting the connection between a place’s history and its environment. This attentive approach makes him a perfect fit for creating a mural inspired by local narratives about Birch Street’s industrial past, and the natural beauty of Kennett Square.
